How Much Does a Carpenter Website Cost in Australia?

Carpentry website pricing, what's usually excluded from a quote, and where the money is best spent.

Carpentry sells on craftsmanship, which makes the website a different job to an emergency trade. Fewer urgent calls, longer decision times, bigger jobs — and a portfolio that has to carry a lot of weight.

What changes the price

  1. Portfolio depth. A dozen jobs with proper galleries is more work than a strip of thumbnails.
  2. Service pages. Decks, pergolas, renovations, fit-outs, framing, doors, built-in storage.
  3. Residential vs commercial. Two audiences, two paths.
  4. Copywriting. Nearly always the difference between a cheap quote and a complete one.
  5. Photography. Your own good photos beat any budget for stock imagery.
  6. Service areas. More suburbs done properly means more pages.

For carpentry, the photos of finished work are the sales pitch — the rest of the site just frames them.

Where to spend, and where not to

Spend on photography and on service pages that answer real questions. Don't spend on animation, custom illustration, or a homepage video nobody watches. A visitor deciding on a $30,000 deck wants to see five completed decks and read how you work — not watch a hero reel.

Think in three-year costs

Hosting, domain renewals, subscriptions and the changes you'll want as you add services. A one-off build with no maintenance arrangement usually ends up either neglected or more expensive than it looked.

Common questions

I get all my work through builders — do I need a website?
Builders check you out too, and a portfolio makes you easier to recommend. It also gives you somewhere to send direct enquiries if the builder work slows down.
How many projects should the portfolio have?
Six to twelve well-photographed jobs beats fifty average ones. More on that in how to show off your carpentry work.
